“It’s fall, y’all!" Tis' the season of electric blue and fluorescent pink sunsets and pulling on your favorite sweater (maybe not in LA but you know who you are). So grab a friend, a bottle of your favorite cabernet, and  enjoy the crisp evenings along with the many treasures that this season brings with it.

Of course, you'll need proper attire.

Whether you're heading to Malibu Wines to sip and savor on a glass of something that warms you up or simply just driving around Pacific Coast Highways taking in the subtle gold whisper of fall, you’ll want to look the part.

Here are five tips to help you look “cool” for 2016 Fall / Winter Seasons.

First: this year is not for the big, bulky sweaters of your past. A cropped sweater is the essential piece this season. You can wear it solo or throw on a long tank underneath. There are all kinds of chic ways to wear one, so be daring! Who What Wear has 15 different suggestions to get you started.

Next, pick up a scarf or two. The options for scarves are tremendously fun and creative. As Woman's Wear Daily, the classic and accessible fashion magazine, reminds us:  "Scarves never go out of style; they’re just too functional in nature.”

No autumn look is complete without your go-to fall pair of jeans. My advice? Go with whatever fits right and feels good. Whether it's holy, baggy, skinny, cropped, or faded, jeans never go out of style and having that perfect pair is a treasure like my Citizens. A friend of mine lectured me once on how, "In the right denim, you can conquer anything." That means jeans are all about what makes you happy and confident, no compromise.

Much like jeans, you also can’t have enough pairs of boots. Pairing that perfect pair of skinny jeans with your favorite cropped suede boots is like pairing delicious merlot with a creamy gouda…it just works. We're fans of TOMS, designed for style and comfort and totally in line with our city and beach style crowds. For those who want a little more edge, cleaned up combat-style boots have followed suit with the bomber jacket in recent autumn trends, offering the comfort of a sturdy shoe with the hip flare of a boot.

And, finally, whatever you do, don't forget that one-of-a-kind, couldn’t-look-more-chic, everyone's-going-to-want-it hatHats have always been the trademark of cool and trendy, and like this spring, they're still a staple for fall. And, let's face it—they literally cover a multitude of sins on a bad hair day. Whether your choice is a fedora, cap or beanie, your fall look will be complete with the perfect topper. Check out San Diego Hat Company if you want to accessorize accordingly.
